Triangle Foundation works closely with the media. We work to ensure that GLBT people and our issues are covered fairly and accurately.
Triangle Foundation provides media technical assistance to Michigan non-profit organizations and groups who want to influence debate, shape public opinion, and garner positive media attention. We seek to work with organizations working on issues that will empower the GLBT and allied communities with real social change. In addition to our media tools and resources, Triangle Foundation offers individualized media trainings at your location, and tailored interactive media strategizing to match your specific needs.
Media Training
Triangle Foundation provides comprehensive, interactive and fun media trainings on a wide range of topics. Trainings are typically hosted by a local group to meet the needs of their local groups of allies working together on an issue or campaign. The trainings cover basic and advanced media skills and tactics customized to meet the specific needs of the group.
Some topics include:
- Media Do's and Don'ts
- Identifying and Framing the News
- Message Development
- Media Advisories, Press Releases and Press Kits
- Letters to the editor and opinion-editorials
- Pitching Stories through free or earned media
- Staging Media Events
- Media Plans
- Developing Relationships with Reporters
- Making News with Reports and Research
- Handling the Tough Questions
Media Strategizing
We review media coverage, assess strengths and weaknesses, brainstorm media ideas, instruct on how handle hostile or indifferent press, help develop media messages, critique media deliverables such as press releases and press kits, and ultimately assist in the creation of a comprehensive media plan. We focus on communications strategies designed to help your win your campaign or issue.
